Gut and Start Over

In September of 2022, Dustin bought a house on Lake Bel-Air, hoping to use it as a summer home. He and the family got it all fixed up and looked forward to enjoying their labors. However, when they visited it again in December, they were shocked to discover the basement floor flooded with 3 inches of water as a result of a water heater leak. The homeowner’s insurance brough in a Remadiation company to tear out the flooring and walls in the basement.

After receiving a quote from a “rather shady character”, he decided to look through referrals from their real estate agent to find a reliable contractor to redo the insulation, drywall, and bathrooms. Our reasonable price and dependable work prompted Dustin to hire us, saying that we felt trustworthy.

Our first task was to finish the demolition. With that out of the way, we were ready to begin installing insulation in the basement.

Seeing our work so far, Dustin asked us to modify the contract to include installing drywall in the rest of the house. We even designed a computer model of new entryway that would open up the upstairs mudroom and hide the ugly mechanicals.

Dustin said “William made some great recommendations with computer models of what it would look like in the home. We went with some of those changes, and they really made a difference in the finished product.”

The furnace proved to be a challenge. We had to design a removable wall in the closet beside it and multiple access panels to ensure that it could be reached for maintenance.

We also opened up the stairwell, which made the large room feel brighter and less cluttered.

We worked with Dustin to find ways to keep the project cost down. We decided that, while we would do the drywall, the Smith’s would install trim and paint the newly finished walls.

With the project complete, Dustin said, “Integrity really beat anyone I talked to in finding a contractor for my remodel because of the communication from the beginning to the end. I got continuous updates and solid timelines.”
