Getting ready for school

Time was short. Classes were starting in less than two weeks – and there were many projects left to complete in this school on the north side of Hillsdale.

The Hillsdale Classical School was excited to have a new building for the 2022-23 school year. There would be lots of extra space and even room to grow. But there remained a lot to be done to turn this former industrial building into an inviting K-8 school.

One of the projects was installing new sinks and cabinets. The first one we talked was in the K-1 classroom. It involved two cabinets coupled with a nice wood top and a stainless steel sink. There is lots of space for keeping those little kiddos clean!

This next sink was in the teachers workroom. Here, we kept the existing cabinet and replaced the countertop and sink. Volunteers took care of painting.

Thankfully, since we were painting, the wall section to the right of the sink was easily fixed. It is amazing what a little paint, some new hardware, and a new countertop can do!

There were projects of all kinds at the school. We had loads of coat hooks to hang and storage shelves to install. We put a nice, big window for natural light in the new office area (after cutting a big hole in the wall). We even built a gate for the old dumpster.

All in all, we had a great time. The parents were wonderful people too. They were always around the place working on their projects. A couple times, they even lent a hand (good job on holding up those shelves and hook boards for us!).

Thank you to everyone at Hillsdale Classical. And you have a blessed school year!
