Just south of Hillsdale, MI, is a lovely home that looks over one of our many lakes. The red accent theme of their house was getting old and they were ready for something new. They decided to start with the kitchen and one of the rooms upstairs.
The upstairs room was rather straightforward. We touched up some minor damage to the wall with spackle, removed the electrical covers, protected the floor, and we were ready to paint. The one tricky spot was above that large window. You may notice how close the trim and the ceiling are to each other. It took some preparation and patience, but we knocked it out with no problems.

Once we were done, we cleaned up all our mess and put everything back in place. All we left behind was a beautiful finish that was ready for another five or ten years of enjoyment.
The kitchen was not so easy. This bit of wall is small, but it is all edges that need cut in with a brush. Additionally, it has all kinds of nooks and crannies that require careful taping and deft brush control to avoid painting the cabinets or the tile.
It took a heavy two coats of Sherwin Williams “SuperPaint”, but we got that deep red covered. Thankfully, I like to lay it on thick. I think it turned out pretty good – how about you?
